BookWright is designed to make desktop publishing (DTP) easy for inexperienced users. The software can help you create anything from books to magazines, in just a few minutes. If you have all your materials ready, you can use BookWright's tools to arrange them however you want, without any effort.

The software is absolutely free and it is available for Windows and Mac. Downloading its setup file takes only a few seconds and installing its core components is just as fast. The software doesn't ask for any special tools or drivers and it doesn't use a significant amount of resources.

A key aspect of BookWright is the fact that it comes with various templates and presets. You can choose between different book formats and between different page layouts. What's more, the software displays several previews for each book format, to help you figure out how it will look on paper or on mobile devices.

Compared to other DTP programs, BookWright is quite simple and easy to use. Pages are listed like slides, on the left side of the main interface, to help you navigate faster. You can import entire pools of images and text files on the same interface, so you don't have to look for the files each time you need to insert a picture or a text fragment.

Arranging contents on a page can be done without any effort. You can draw image and text boxes and fill them with contents by clicking and dragging. The software's rulers and guide lines will help you align your contents. Also, if you wish to align them perfectly, without thinking where to place your photos or text, you can just select a layout preset and apply it instantly. This will add image and text boxes automatically, so you only need to fill them.

Images that don't fit, pieces of text that got left out and other issues can be viewed on a single window, on which you can also find options for fixing or ignoring them. Books can't be exported, but you can upload them on the Internet and convert or print them from there.

Pros

The software makes desktop publishing quite easy. It comes with a good number of templates and presets, which you can apply instantly.

Cons

BookWright works with RGB color channels, instead of CMYK, like professional DTP programs. With BookWright's straightforward functionality, entire books and magazines can be created in just a few minutes, even by inexperienced users.
